Johan Abelsson

Johan started young, fishing for pike and perch in the small lakes around Kroneberg in Småland (Sweden). The first time he went salmon fishing with a fly was in Mörrumsån in 1971, just 12 years old. In his youth, he'd fish for more or less anything and everything. Large pike in Trosa archipelago, asp in the small streams in central Sweden, bream and roach in Karlbergs canal (Stockholm), cod in Öresund and burbot and pike-perch in Mälaren. Johan Abelsson is the man who caught the first salmon in the modern age sport fishing in Stockholm's stream in the late 70's. Since then, he's caught over 4000 salmon in Norway, Russia, Scotland, Sweden and Iceland. He also caught 5 salmon over 20kg trolling in östersjön and holds Stockholm's record of 26,88kg, and also caught salmon weighing over 20kg with fly in Sweden and Norway. In 1982, Johan started up an agency that arranged fishing trips to Trosa, where the big pike live. He's been pioneer in helping to develop and build a sports fishing tourism for salmon in the 'arch angel' area, in Russia and also Kazakhstan. Johan has fished in many countries including, Argentina, USA, Alaska and British Columbia. You can say that he has indulged in some serious fishing around the globe. At the moment, he is having fun fishing for pike in östersjön and the larger lakes.

Johan has over 20 years experience working within the sports fishing industry at an international level. He sits on the board of the SEFF (Swedish fishing board) and also for 'Mer Lax i Vättern' (More Salmon in Vättern) Johan is also co-owner and one of the founders in Wild Water Fishing.

Kristian Keskitalo

Kristian was born and partly grew up in northern Finland. He was born into a fishing family, and has had fishing as a large interest for most of his life. Grayling and salmon were the main targets during the summertime. He has experienced fishing for salmon in Kolahalvön and also salt water fished in Mexico. He lives between Vänern and Vättern; just a stones throw away from the trolling fishing in these lakes. He has many years experience under his belt as a fishing guide in the lakes as well as östersjön. His passion is northern Norway where he has really earned his stripes as a fishing guide. Huge cod, halibut and coalfish are his greatest triumphs during his trips to Röst.

Kristian won the ABU's prize in 2002 with a record sej caught by fly, he guided towards the 2004 prize of a 28kg cod. He is regarded as the most skillful fisherman of the northern region with a high competence of fishing for halibut.

The last 15 years he has worked in the sale of electrical goods to large industries in Sweden, and the last 5 years he has been a sales leader and now manager. The thought of waking up each morning to a day on the seas was too tempting to stay a dream, and so in the winter of 2005, he decided on full time fishing.

Kristian is a full time guide and part owner in Wild Water Fishing AB. He is also the leader of our fishing camp up in Röst, Norway.
